Can Tapping (EFT) Cultivate Creativity?
You’re Invited! Please join me and a small group of people interested in living life more artfully and producing art more easily. LifeArt Studio offers monthly Creative Momentum Gatherings to help us do just that. This week, Thursday, September 18, join us and learn about Tapping, a technique that might give you an over-due nudge toward upgrading your creative life. What is Tapping?
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), called Tapping, is a form of energy psychology that draws on various theories of alternative medicine including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, energy medicine, and Thought Field Therapy (TFT). It combines cognitive operations (like visualization of peak performance) with gentle tapping on parts of the vibrational matrix (biofield, meridians, or energy centers) to unearth negatively engrained thought. Best known through Gary Craig's EFT handbook, published in the late 1990s, and more recently through the work of Nick Ortner in The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living, this method has reduced the stress and habitual thinking that keep many people from living life fully, happily, and creatively.
Energy is our Creative Fuel
At LifeArt Studio, we’re all about studying energy: what it is, how to get more of it, and how to use to well. So this week, we invite therapist Heidi Behr to join us for our monthly Creative Momentum Gathering and examine the energetic psychology of Tapping. We’re curious about how this technique might be applied to the creative process.
I’ve been practicing the procedure for a while now, and I think it offers another way to fight the battle of lethargy and fear that keeps us from pursuing our art, or our dreams.
Because we all falter, don’t we? Consciously creating an artful life is not easy. Taking up a new project that requires innovative solutions is daunting. Both require attention, focus, resilience, vision, energy, and more. And on any given day, our energetic tank can be low in one or more of those areas. We lose our confidence. We forget our purpose. We begin to think we’re just not good enough to achieve what we want.
Tapping for Optimal Productivity
I think this stage of the creative process—those moments when we lose faith in our creative capacities—can be served by EFT Tapping. With Heidi Behr we'll consider how Tapping can be a tool for disarming obstacles and supporting our commitment to take a bold new step on behalf of ourselves—like starting a project, learning a new skill, embodying a new habit, or cultivating a new attitude.
Come and find out for yourself if Tapping can help you in the process of living and creating artfully. We'll gather at LifeArt Studio on Thursday, September 18, at 6:45 p.m. There is no cost for this event, but seats are limited. Please reserve your space here, and I’ll send you more detailed directions before Thursday.
Hope to see you there!
