Guacamole and Self-Publishing

images-2Does the word “publication” scare you to death? And yet. . . do you have a small, private wish that some day you might put all of those meaningful pieces of writing you have into a lovely format? Or maybe you would like to organize your family history into a gift book for your parents. How about those sweet letters you wrote to your children when they were growing up? Want to see them beautifully designed and bound into a book? I have a friend who has written a charming children’s book, but she has been confused about how to get it out into the world; and so this great little story remains lost in the bowels of her file cabinet. I had that “small, private wish” for years about a series of assignments I had created for my Writer’s Studio class at Rollins. I wanted to see these assignments made available to other teachers, or share them with those wanting to write for pleasure and reflective practice. And now, that has happened; the book has finally been given a beautiful format by Patricia Charpentier, founder of LifeStory Publishing.

If you’d like to hear about my experience of working with Patricia and how skillful she was at bringing my book Twelve Doors into being, please join us for an informative and inspiring evening on January 24 at Cocina 214 in Winter Park.

Patricia Charpentier will explain a variety of ways to get your words, ideas, photos, paintings, drawings into book form.  Through LifeStory Publishing, she has led many writers through the process of publishing a book.  Check out event details here.

images-3So listen, if you have even a teeny desire that some day you want to collect or curate your creative expressions, don’t suppress it any longer. Come and learn how easy it can be to make your book happen. Patricia knows all the steps that need to be taken.

And if you have no intentions of doing something like that, join us anyway for the joy of being in the midst of vibrant, creative people.  And for the joy of guacamole!  We’ll meet on January 24 from 7:00-8:30 at Cocina 214 in Winter Park. Come early and grab a drink at the bar; we’ll provide lite-bites for you to enjoy.

This is a free event, and seating is limited, so please contact me and I'll place you on the reserved list.

Patricia and I would love to see you on the 24th!
